Kings County Supreme Court’s new ADR program

Kings County Supreme Court provides ADR program in effort to resolve legal matters more efficiently and economically.

Brief summary of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program

In an effort to reduce judiciary gridlock and expedite cases, Judge Knipel in Supreme Court Kings County recently laid out rules of the new ADR program that will go into effect on October 1, 2019. With about 100 RJI filings a day in Supreme Kings, the program will potentially resolve a significant percentage of civil litigation with presumptive mediation rather than in open court. The mediation program is to be implemented city-wide, and each county will have the authority to modify the rules as they deem necessary.

What does this mean for you?

If you would like to move your cases forward, now is the time to initiate action - before the October 1st deadline, when all cases will have to adhere to the mediation rules and procedures.
